Story

For 20 years, the members of the Rotary Club of Colne Noyna have spent the weeks before Christmas collecting for charity with the co-operation of supermarket owners Sainsbury’s, Morrison’s, ASDA and LIDL. In addition, we have sought sponsorship of our Sleigh from industry and commerce.

Over those years, hundreds of thousands of pounds have been passed over to organisations such as Pendleside Hospice, Derian House, Petal Cancer Research and the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Under normal circumstances we have a Sleigh with Reindeer, Festive Music, sweets for the kids and the star of the show, Santa.

The COVID-19 pandemic clearly prevents us from carrying out our traditional activities, which could choke off some £10 to £12 thousand pounds of donations to the charity beneficiaries, who are themselves already seeing significant income reductions as a result of the prevailing crisis.

In an attempt to mitigate the financial impact Colne Noyna is launching a Just Giving appeal and once again seeking support from business.

We know that there are always more demands on your charitable giving budgets than you are able to satisfy, but would ask that you look favourably upon our request.

Your generosity will be recognised on our Facebook and Web Pages.
